McKenzie Kock
McKenzie Kock was born and raised in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where she began dancing at the age of three. Her training spans recreational, competitive, and pre-professional dance, and during her pre-professional years she traveled to New York, Chicago, Minneapolis, Omaha, and Kansas City to further her education and has studied under numerous renowned artists. McKenzie attended Lincoln High School, where she was a member of both the dance team and competitive/sideline cheer team. After graduating in 2015, she continued her professional dance journey as a company member with LiRa Dance Theatre Company, where she continues to perform in both group and soloist roles. In 2019, McKenzie graduated from Minnesota State University, Mankato with a Bachelor of Arts in Exercise Science and a minor in Dance. During her time in Mankato, she cheered for the MSU football and basketball sideline cheer teams while also teaching ballet, pre-pointe, and competitive dance at Spotlight Dance Company. Following graduation, McKenzie became a certified Exercise Physiologist and worked with FYZICAL Therapy & Balance Centers as both an Exercise Physiologist and FYZICIAN Liaison within the dance medicine program. She also began coaching the O'Gorman High School competitive dance team. Alongside her professional work, McKenzie has spent seven years teaching and mentoring dancers within the Sioux Falls area. Throughout that time, she played an active role in helping grow both recreational and competitive programs while teaching dancers of all ages and levels. Her experience in the studio setting has helped shape her passion for creating strong technical foundations, fostering confidence, and building a positive and supportive dance environment. In addition to her work in dance education and choreography, McKenzie is the co-owner of RDK Designs, LLC alongside Kallee Rydland and Haley Dettler, creating custom and semi-custom costumes for dancers across the Midwest. She is also co-owner of Kolour By Kenz and Kallee, offering custom airbrushed spray tans in the Sioux Falls area. McKenzie is an award-winning choreographer, dance judge, and certified Acrobatic Arts instructor. Her greatest passion is helping dancers discover and achieve “the extra 10%” — a mindset inspired by the lesson her parents instilled in her from a young age: if you’re going to do something, do it 110%.
